The Didactic Pavilion is a temporary wooden structure built in the course of a 10-days workshop we tutored for Banca del Fare within the frame of Cascina Crocetta Summer school.
The structure is designed as a support for educational activities and exhibitions focused on astronomy, in direct dialogue to the nearby solar observatory.
Following the grid set by the hazelnut orchard, the main pillars supporting the different elements leading and forming the main pavilion are set 4 meter apart from one another, visually linking the installation to its surroundings.
The pavilion is built around an empty core that opens through the center of each side of the volume – the north facing façade invites the visitors coming in from the main path leading to the pavilion, the side facing est connects with the solar observatory while the west facing façade opens up towards the landscape where sun sets.
